A mysterious event swept through the Aetherian Vortex when, for several years, dark, glistening rains fell from the sky, imbued with the essence of both Zephyrion's storms and shadowy remnants of Aeris' lost will. These rains spawned the Shadow Drakes, small, winged creatures of wind and dark mist. While initially feared as harbingers of chaos, they eventually became the guardians of secrets, silently watching over the skies and reporting to Zephyrion.
