The Shadowbinding Incident

Third Age (7930)

A catastrophic event called the Shadowbinding Incident occurred when an ambitious human mage, Valeran the Black, attempted to merge shadow magic with elemental forces to create a new class of spells. The experiment backfired, releasing shadow entities that overwhelmed part of Arcanspire and spread fear and chaos. This incident led to tighter controls by the Magelords and further solidified the divide between them and rogue magic practitioners.
