God of the Forge and Craft
Group (Pantheon): The Twelve
Domains: Forge, Craftsmanship, Creation
Alignment: Lawful Good
Kaldar's holy symbol is a warhammer crossed with a blacksmith's chisel, encircled by a ring of fiery runes representing the cycle of creation and transformation. This symbol is often crafted in iron, bronze, or stone and worn by blacksmiths, artisans, and builders. Many forge-temples display massive iron renditions of this symbol above their forges.
Kaldar's faith is centered around forges and workshops, with temples doubling as craft halls and training grounds for artisans and warriors. The faith values skill over rank, and advancement within the church depends on one's proven craftsmanship, skill in forging, or dedication to serving the community.
The Forgefather/Forgebearer
The highest spiritual leader of Kaldar's faith, chosen for their legendary craftsmanship and unwavering character. They are considered the mortal hand of Kaldar, guiding the faith with wisdom and strength.
Master Smiths
Accomplished blacksmiths, crafters, and architects who lead temples, teach apprentices, and oversee the creation of great works of magic and engineering.
Hearthguards
Paladins and battle-clerics devoted to Kaldar, charged with protecting sacred forges and communities. They often wield enchanted hammers and axes, forged by their own hands.
Flamebound Artisans
Traveling craftspeople and forge-priests who repair, build, and restore in Kaldar's name. They are often called upon to create works of divine importance or repair ancient relics.
Apprentices of the Anvil
Novices and initiates who dedicate themselves to learning a craft while serving the faith through hard labor. Many apprentices spend years perfecting their craft before becoming fully recognized clerics of Kaldar.
Grandmaster Arvik Stonebrand (past)
Role: Legendary Forgefather
Legacy: Arvik forged the Gates of Ildamar, unbreakable doors enchanted with runes of warding that protected the last free city of Thaloria during the Fourth Age. His mastery of rune-carving set the foundation for modern magical forging techniques.
Tyrik Ironheart (past)
Role: Hearthguard Commander
Legacy: Tyrik led the defense of Stonehall Bastion against a massive abyssal horde during the Fourth Age. He fought with Forgebreaker, an enchanted maul forged by Kaldar himself, ensuring the survival of thousands of refugees. His sacrifice is still honored in the annual Day of the Anvil.
Branya Emberwright (present)
Role: Current Forge-Matriarch
Legacy: Branya leads the Great Forge of Ironspire, one of the largest forge-temples in Thaloria. She forged the enchanted warhammer Stormcaller, said to summon lightning with each strike, and is considered one of the finest living smiths of the Sixth Age.
Master Crafter Jorva Emberforge (present)
Role: Flamebound Artisan
Legacy: Jorva is known across Thaloria for creating some of the finest magical armor and enchanted weapons of the modern age. Her masterwork Aegis of the Forge has protected countless rulers and warriors. Many aspire to be her apprentice, though she is notoriously demanding.
Darek "Runefist" Galvor (present)
Role: Wanderer and Relic Restorer
Legacy: A legendary smith and battle-cleric, Darek wanders Thaloria restoring lost relics and reforging broken magical items. He famously restored the shattered sword Dawnguard, wielded by the paladin Arven Valeborn, reigniting the flames of hope in a desperate rebellion.
Kaldar's faith thrives in regions where industry, mining, and craftsmanship flourish. His forge-temples can be found in every major city and mining settlement, from the Ironspire Peaks to the Aurensul Collective. Dwarves and humans are especially devoted to his teachings, though artisans of all races honor him.
Kaldar's faithful have strong ties with those of Theris (justice), Elora (knowledge), and Vara (light and healing), with whom they often collaborate on grand projects. However, they have little patience for deities associated with chaos, destruction, or deceit, such as Zephyra (tempests) or Sarna (trickery).
Even in the Sixth Age, Kaldar's followers face numerous challenges:
Kaldar, the God of the Forge and Craft, is the divine patron of artisans, blacksmiths, builders, and all who create through labor and skill. He represents the enduring spirit of craftsmanship, the value of honest work, and the power of creation through fire and perseverance. Kaldar's followers believe that to shape metal, stone, or even destiny itself, one must be as unyielding as the forge's flame.
Kaldar is often depicted as a towering, muscular figure with ash-streaked skin and arms like tempered steel. He wears a smith's apron made of enchanted leather, and his eyes glow with molten light, symbolizing the fire of creation that never dims. He wields Stoneheart, a mighty warhammer said to be the first tool ever forged, capable of shaping both the physical world and the destiny of nations.
Kaldar's legacy endures in every hammer strike, every crafted blade, and every structure built to last. His faith teaches that even in hardship, the flame of perseverance must never be extinguished. Through creation and resilience, his followers shape not only steel but the future of Thaloria itself. In fire, strength is forged. In struggle, destiny is shaped.
