Wizard subclass
Blue mages are arcane scholars who specialize in learning magic by observing and absorbing the spells of their enemies. These wizards thrive in the chaos of battle, turning the destructive power of their foes against them. By studying the intricate patterns of hostile magic, blue mages can temporarily replicate spells, even those outside the traditional wizard repertoire, and adapt their defenses to resist the energies they encounter. This unique approach to magic makes them unpredictable and versatile, capable of tailoring their abilities to the challenges they face.
Starting at 2nd level, you learn to unravel and replicate magic used against you. When a creature you can see casts a spell of 1st level or higher that targets you or includes you in its area, you can use your reaction to make an Arcana check (DC = 10 + the spell's level). On a success, you temporarily add the spell to your list of spells prepared for 1 hour or until your next long rest, whichever comes first, provided it is of a level you can cast. You can retain a number of these spells equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1). If you do not have enough slots for a new spell replicated in this way, you may choose which of the spells learned in this way is replaced by the current spell. If the spell isn't on the wizard spell list, it is treated as a wizard spell for you.
At 6th level, exposure to hostile magic hardens your defenses. Whenever you learn a spell through Azure Insight, choose one damage type dealt by that spell. You gain resistance to that damage type for 1 hour. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1), regaining expended uses after a long rest.
By 10th level, you refine stolen magic to surpass its original potency. When you cast a spell gained through Azure Insight, you can spend an additional spell slot of 1st level or higher. If the spell requires a saving throw, its DC increases by 1, or if it deals damage, it gains a +1d6 bonus, per level of the expended slot.
Starting at 14th level, you can seize control of incoming magic. When a creature within 60 feet casts a spell of 5th level or lower, you can use your reaction to cast counterspell without expending a spell slot. If the countered spell is of 5th level or lower, you automatically learn it via Azure Insight for 24 hours, ignoring your normal limits. Once used, this feature can't be used again until you finish a long rest.
